There’s nothing better than having the opportunity to spend time doing things that you love. As a very busy parent to three amazing children there are two things that I love to do the most. Firstly, having a day off to go out and have fun making memories with my family and secondly, to head out with my camera and take some great pictures for my portfolio. So, I was over the moon when a recent visit to Rockingham Castle gave me the chance to bring these together.
If you’ve never been to Rockingham Castle you’ve missed a treat – it’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours with loved ones of all ages. The Castle has welcomed many Kings and Queens including Richard the Lionheart, King John, Edward I and Queen Eleanor. Their lasting influence can still be seen in many parts of the castle and grounds today.
Poised above the Welland Valley with fine views of five counties the ramparts enclose 12 acres of sweeping lawns, formal and informal gardens set among the medieval fortifications. There is a circular Rose Garden on the site of the old keep and a magnificent wild garden in the ravine below containing over 200 species of trees and shrubs – a great place to get a snap shot of the family.
